Laurie Edelman, MD

Internist

"I believe in treating my patients with the same dedication and compassion I would extend to my own family. When my patients see our relationship as that of having a doctor in the family, I know I have earned their trust, giving me a profound sense of fulfillment."

Dr. Edelman is a board-certified Internist and Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. For well over a decade, she has been featured yearly in New York’s preeminent Top Doctors lists, including Top Women in Medicine and New York Magazine. Dr. Edelman has extensive experience in all aspects of primary care and favors a holistic approach incorporating healthy diet, exercise, and lifestyle choices. She has a particular interest in diabetes and obesity management, has participated in numerous clinical trials, and presented her work at national meetings. In collaboration with her colleagues and The Diabetes Alliance, she has improved the outcomes of many patients with type 2 diabetes who are at high-risk of complications.

Before joining The Health Center at Hudson Yards, Dr. Edelman has over 25 years of experience treating a diverse patient population, training medical students and residents, and serving as a role model and mentor to junior faculty. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

In her free time, Dr. Edelman enjoys spending time with her family, exploring NYC museums and restaurants, traveling, and doing The New York Times crossword puzzles.
